Disney Plus Day Predictions
Wonder what goodies we’re gonna get
Welcome back, y’all! This time around, we’re doing a nice little prediction article again, this time for what we might get at this Friday’s Disney+ Day. Now, this won’t be a huge article, but I figured since the event is happening this week, I’d dedicate this week towards it just to build some hype. So, I’m gonna have sections that are dedicated to different subsidiaries that are present on the Disney+ platform, which includes Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars. I’m not going to include National Geographic because… I mean, no offense, but nobody’s putting Disney+ Day on their calendars just for some documentaries. I love a good documentary, but we all know that’s not why we’re here. Now! Without any further ado, let’s just jump right into it.
Disney
Starting off with good ol’ Disney, let’s try and brainstorm what we’ll see this Friday, realistically of course. There’s not too much to say for this section, but in my personal opinion, I think we’ll probably see two movies announced, maybe even three. It’s likely that they’ll be live-action versions of some Disney classics, and it’s likely that we’ll hear about the Peter Pan film we all (I assume you all know at least) know about. I doubt we’ll hear anything for the live-action Little Mermaid film, but again, I do think we’ll get two newly announced films alongside a peek into next year’s film (assuming it isn’t pushed back). Recently, we did hear rumblings about Gal Gadot’s involvement with a live-action Snow White film, but I personally wouldn’t hold my breath for a sneak peek or anything. Then again, these rumblings are going on right before Disney+ Day, so maybe we’ll actually get lucky and see a little something for it. As far as a new series, I don’t really think we’ll get a series, but really, who knows?
Pixar
Here’s when I think we’ll see things start to heat up. In my personal opinion, I think it’s safe to see at least three or four films announced here. At least. I don’t think we’ll see them all be released in 2022, but I think we’ll definitely get some sweet deets on them… details. I mean details. Anyways, after that, I’d definitely say that we’ll be seeing a wave of Pixar shorts. Probably some more shorts based off of some Pixar classics like Toy Story or Monsters Inc., but we know for sure that we’ll get some brand new original shorts as well. As far as a series, maybe. Maybe one or two. Nothing super significant, I don’t think, but at least some that’ll be full of short episodes, something similar to Dug Days or Monsters at Work. Me personally, I would love to see another Nemo film, like I was such a huge fan of Finding Nemo as a child (even though the scene of the whale in the vast amount of nothingness in the deep scary ocean absolutely traumatized me but whatever), and I adored Finding Dory, so bring on some more Nemo goodness. Besides that, I think it’s safe to expect another Toy Story movie announced, and we’ll probably see some more footage of the Lightyear film alongside it. Besides that, I’m not too sure what else we’ll see.
Marvel
Now we’re really in the thick of it. Okay, hear me out, because I’m probably expecting too much, but hush yourselves because I’m confident. Now, here’s what I’m thinking. I think we’re getting another Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer, we’re going to get a peak at Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness, we’re going to get a peak at Thor: Love and Thunder, we’ll probably hear some good news about Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, we’ll get a look at the next seasons of Marvel’s What If? Loki, and, yes and, we’ll get another trailer for Hawkeye. Now, that’s for things that we know about. As far as things we don’t know about, I think we can absolutely expect to hear about at least two or three more brand new movies, and I think it’s safe to expect one or two more TV shows to be announced. I know that sounds like a lot, but all of those movies and shows are actually quite realistic when it comes to expectations. I could absolutely be wrong of course, but think about it. These are projects that are either at the end of this year, or are only a year away. Loki and What If? are safe, since they’re huge successes with pretty important endings to them, and we already know they’re both getting another season, so I think it’s safe to expect those. Hawkeye is just around the corner, and so is Spider-Man: No Way Home, so those are no-brainers. Could we see She-Hulk, Moon Knight, and Ms. Marvel? Absolutely, but I’d be cautious to expect those. They’re supposed to be released next year, but remember, the pandemic caused a lot of projects with so many different companies to either get pushed back or to get scrapped, so let’s be a little careful there.
Star Wars
Now here’s where it’s REALLY at: Star Wars. Man, Star Wars is probably my favorite thing of all time, so I’m so ready to write about it even more. Alright alright, let me start. So, when it comes to movies, I wouldn’t really expect anything. Maybe we’ll hear about some plans, and I think that’s likely, but don’t expect a teaser for one, don’t expect a trailer, none of that. We’ll get their titles, maybe even some potential release dates, but not all the specifics. When it comes to shows? Man, what aren’t we getting? First of all, I think we’ll get some more goodness on The Book of Boba Fett. Another trailer? Maybe not, but we’ll most likely get some behind the scenes footage and concept art to look at, which is still cool. I think we’ll definitely see a trailer for the upcoming Disney+ special, Under The Helmet: The Legacy of Boba Fett, since it’s coming this month. Now, here’s what’s risky. I think that we’ll see trailers for Andor, Kenobi, and The Bad Batch Season 2. Not only this, but I think we’ll also get details for other upcoming series, such as Ahsoka, The Mandalorian Season 3, Lando, and maybe we’ll even find out what’s going on for Rangers of the New Republic. It’s a lot, and I could probably be getting too ahead of myself, but these are projects that are coming either next year, or potentially the year after, so is it really too much?
Final Thoughts
We’re here y’all, we’re at the end. That was pretty fun, no? No matter what, we all have our own set of expectations, and our own predictions for this Friday, but one thing we can all agree on, is that we’re all in for a treat for sure. No matter what you’re a fan of, you’re gonna get your slice of the pie, and I think that’s what’s really important here. I can’t wait, and I know you all can’t either. But what did you all think?
