Spider-Man: No Way Home Review
The Spider-Man is Back!
Welcome back, y’all! This time around, we’re taking a look at Marvel’s brand new Spider-Man: No Way Home! Man, I want to say so much, but I won’t do that to y’all. This is completely spoiler-free. It’s gonna be my personal pros for this movie, the cons, and my final thoughts. No spoilers are here whatsoever, don’t worry! I just wanna jump right in, so without any further ado, let’s just jump right into it.
Pros
First of all, the action? MWUAH. Out of the three Spider-Man films, this one definitely has the best action. If you want to see Spidey in his element, you’re getting Spidey in his element. As most of you already know, Spidey has quite a few foes to face in this one, so trust me, you’re gonna have plenty of fighting going on. Another pro is of course the acting. Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon did a fantastic job as usual, but Benedict Cumberbatch was phenomenal here, and the uh, you know whos that returned for this film were also absolutely phenomenal. I will say that if you're hoping to be surprised, or shocked? Pffft. You’re definitely in for a good time. Don’t get me wrong, there were times that I was waiting for this film to pick it up in terms of its pace, but it did very well to keep me entertained. I was definitely shocked, I was definitely touched, and I was definitely satisfied with the final product, I really was.
Another thing that I must give props for, is just the story itself. The story flowed so well here, like I was really wondering how involving Doctor Strange and… other characters would even work, but surprisingly enough, it really did work. It didn’t feel cluttered at all, it was actually very well handled. I had two specific issues, but I’ll get to that in the next section, but as far as what I did like, it was definitely the action, the story, the pacing, and the absolutely AMAZING acting. I mean, I really felt the emotion that many of these characters went through. Spider-Man himself really goes through a lot here. I won’t give specifics of course, but there’s a moment where he’s legitimately struggling with who he is, and he literally needed another character to remind him who he is. It was moments like that that really got to me, because you can really feel the powerful acting that Tom Holland gives to this character, and it just works. This is an extremely touching and entertaining movie, and I really believe you’ll all enjoy it.
Cons
Thankfully, I can keep this part short. Alright, my first issue with this film, is the fact that the introduction of certain characters were a liiittle wonky. They were rushed, and the writing for some of these entrances were just a bit off-putting to me. There’s one specific character that’s introduced, who goes from smiling weirdly, to getting into a two second altercation with another character, to going back to smiling. It’s things like that that I found to be really odd. I’m sure it was to try and be humorous or something, but it just ended up being weird, while other characters felt like they were forced in way too quickly. The humor is my second issue. This movie is COOOORNY oh man. Like, there were moments like the one I partially explained just now that made me roll my eyes, and there were moments that I found myself just shaking my head. The jokes are preeetty bad, I gotta say. Like, bad to the point that I stopped caring about dialogue at times, worrying that another pointless joke would be forced in. Not saying that all jokes or humorous moments were bad, because there were some good, even great ones here, but I’ll definitely say that two-thirds of this movie’s jokes were bad.
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for a good time, absolutely watch this movie. If you want some serious shock factor, absolutely watch this movie, that includes during and after the credits, wink wink, hint hint. If you want some crazy good action, absolutely watch this movie. If you want some good comedy, however, uhh… hmm. Maybe wait for another Guardians of the Galaxy. Regardless of that, you will have a fantastic time, I guarantee it. But what did you think? Did you enjoy the film if you watched it? Any theories you’re hoping came true if you didn’t watch it yet?
