When Might We Get The Boys Season 3?
Well… where is it?
Welcome back to The Wolf Den, y’all! This time around, we’re talking about Amazon’s The Boys. It’s been a good little while since Season 2 wrapped up, and left fans to wonder, “What happens next?” This gruesome and hilarious show left a huge mark on people all around the world, so we really have to wonder where exactly the third season is. All we can do now is take a look at what we already know based on what happened at the end of Season 2, what we know based on the official social media accounts of those who worked on this show and played the characters in it, and speculate. I’m sure we won’t have to wait too much longer, but really, it’s a waiting game. For now, let’s take a look at everything we know for sure, then get into some speculations, then wrap it up with some final thoughts. Let’s get into it.
What We know For Sure
So first of all, let’s take a look at the showrunner of the series, Eric Kripke. Kripke is the most reliable source we have, besides the official accounts for The Boys and actors involved with the series. Most recently, Kripke has been tweeting, or rather retweeting details on Season 3, just to get fans ready. More specifically, he seems to often promote actor Jensen Ackles’ involvement with the series, where it’s confirmed that he’ll be playing the character of Soldier Boy, which is basically a take on the Marvel superhero, Captain America. Soldier Boy in the comics is… not exactly the bravest of the Supes. He’s actually an extremely cowardly character, who in one panel of the original comic series, was seen urinating on himself in fear. It’s actually a bit sad, but like basically all of the Supes, he’s still a terrible human being. Kripke also confirmed that a specific storyline from the comics will be coming to Season 3, a story called “Herogasm”. Yes, it’s as bad as you think. Herogasm in the comics was about a massive superhero orgy, and one of the episodes in Season 3 is named after this. If you have kids, maybe make sure they leave the room before you hit play. Kripke’s done plenty to get fans hyped up and in the loop for Season 3’s development, and he’s done so by confirming actors and actresses who will appear as recurring characters, and some who might only appear briefly.
Taking a look at a few of the actors’ social media pages, there’s not a whole lot going on. They do retweet, but for the most part, it’s the same information that Kripke himself has also retweeted. Though, things have been confirmed for a while now, is that we will see existing characters be explored even more. Specifically, we already know that characters like Victoria Neuman will play a much larger role in the story. Spoiler alert if you haven’t watched The Boys Season 2! At the end, we find out the mystery of the exploding heads, and it’s the work of Victoria herself, who's superpower is… well, I guess it’s just to make people explode. With a power like that, we can only hope that she’s a good guy (from a certain point of view) who has the same ideals as our band of heroes led by Billy Butcher. We do know that she’s against Vought, and wants to expose the existence of Compound V, so we can only imagine that she is in fact trying to do good, but just not in the best way morally. Unfortunately, that’s all we really have to go off of, but now it’s time to speculate.
What We Think Might Happen
As I said before, there’s not a whole bunch of information to go off of, but we can at least put together a few theories. First of all, with the involvement of Soldier Boy, it’s pretty safe to say that we will be seeing the superhero team, Payback, which is the team that Soldier Boy is a part of. In Season 2 specifically, we’ve already seen one of the members who was a part of the Church of the Collective. This character was Eagle the Archer, and we saw him trying to help The Deep. Technically, another member we’ve seen is Stormfront, but that was in the comics, where she is a male instead of a female. There have been other little teases, but nothing super concrete until now. With the involvement of Soldier Boy and his Payback team, we can only imagine that America will take a liking to the shield wielding hero a little more than Homelander might want. I’m thinking that Homelander actually might force Soldier Boy to back down, and he’ll most likely listen, if this version of the character is as cowardly as he is in the comics. Perhaps when Payback sees Soldier Boy being bullied by Homelander, we just might have a bit of a battle between the two teams, but The Seven isn’t exactly in full strength, so who knows how that fight would go?
Something else I’m thinking about is the release date. Don’t quote me on this, because we have nothing concrete whatsoever, but since we’ve yet to see a trailer or even get teased with a trailer yet, I’m sure it’ll be a good little while until we see this show come back for more. I’m sure this isn’t intentional, as Season 2 wrapped up around the time that the global pandemic came on. I’m positive that threw a pretty big wrench into their plans for filming, but I’m thinking they probably already had most of the script finished while Season 2 was still fresh and new. I’m thinking it’s likely that we’ll see a trailer either this fall, or maybe even early next year. With that being said, I’m thinking we’ll see the third season back on our television screens either late 2022, or maybe even as far as early 2023. It sucks to say, but when you really think about it, it’s best that they don’t rush things and they just take their time with this. Season 3 is going to be a banger, so definitely don’t worry about it being a bad time, but for now, let’s just give it time and wait for a trailer.
Final Thoughts
This was a bit of a short one for you all, but it’s always good to keep everyone in the loop with the things they love. I’m a massive fan of this series, same as most of you, so I’d want as much knowledge on the series as possible without getting clickbaited. These are just hard facts on what we know, and things that are safe to expect about the series. So, are you guys excited for the third season?
