Aaand we’re back… Yikes

Welcome back, y’all! This time around, we’re taking a look at the ninth episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2! Before anything, let me just let you all know that a few articles ago, I let it be known that I’ll continue the way I’ve been writing reviews for this series for the rest of the season. After using the Pros and Cons sections for the last entry for this season, it was preeetty clear that that was the best way to go for every project. So for this article, we’ll go that route, and we’ll use it for every project from now on. It’ll make things a lot easier for you all to read, and I can get to the point a lot more clearly. Cool? Cool. Now, without any further ado, let’s jump right into it.

Pros

Not gonna lie, there wasn’t a whole lot that I enjoyed about this one. It was really bland, but I’ll save that for the next section. Now I gotta say, I did really enjoy the way we see Tech and Omega bond in this episode. There was a whole lot of bickering, and we all know that Tech can be brutally honest, so it does hurt Omega’s feelings. After a bit of trouble forces the two to work together, we see them get into a conversation about why it always seems like Tech doesn’t care. He actually does, but he always feels that since him and the squad have always gotten out of tough situations, he knows life will just move on. While Tech normally sounds pretty bleak or nonchalant, we see him have a genuine heart to heart with Omega, and it teaches Omega something in the end. I enjoyed the conversation these two had, even though it was fairly short, and I enjoyed seeing Tech be a bit more human here, it’s not often that we see him get anywhere close to being emotional. Other than that, I didn’t enjoy much.

Cons

Ugh. Honestly, it’s not that I hated the episode, but it seriously wasn’t good. I genuinely don’t want the review to be so short, but it just wasn’t very enjoyable. Even the way it ended was just bland. I was so bored the entire time, so much so that I needed a break. My first issue is how basic the plot was. Literally, it was Solo but a little different. Highly explosive material that needs to be safely delivered, avoiding environmental hazards by using said material, bickering when things seem almost hopeless, I can go on. Again, we did at least get some wholesome stuff from Omega and Tech and that really was nice, but honestly, it doesn’t excuse the fact that we went backwards in progress. This episode just wasn’t good.

Final Thoughts

Well, that’s a bummer. I mean, it wasn’t something that has me worried about the season again, I just don’t expect super long streaks of good episode back to back, because it’s clear that they can’t be consistent with this series. We’ll get back on track I’m absolutely positive, but understand that it won’t last long, and that’s a shame. Oh well, I guess The Mandalorian is gonna have to give us the goods.
